Not sure how to cast your Meta Quest 2 or Pro to your TV? Here’s a quick guide to help you share your immersive gaming session with your friends.

VR is usually a one-person experience. Even though the Meta Quest is a top-notch VR headset, it’s still mostly for one user at a time. So what if one friend is playing a VR game like Beat Saber and the others want to see what’s going on?

This is where the Metas casting feature helps. The headset has a screencast feature out of the box. This feature allows you to show what is happening in VR on your TV screen, computer or phone.

If you want to share your VR gameplay with everyone in the room, sending your Quest 2 to a bigger screen is a good way to go. A few taps in your settings, and everyone can see your game.

How to stream Quest 2, 3 and Pro with the Oculus app

To play Quest 2, 3 and Pro with the Meta Quest app, you need to mirror your phone screen to the TV. This can be done on Chromecast devices for Android and on Apple TV for iPhone and iPad. If, as before, your TV already supports sending phones directly to it without additional hardware, proceed as usual.

Just be aware that notifications will be sent to your phone, so be sure to hit Do Not Disturb mode before you get that embarrassing message.

How to send Quest 2 and Pro to PC

To cast Quest to PC, log into the Quest Portal and you’re ready to play. Make sure the Quest is on the same network and in the mini-menu tray, press the Share button again and select Cast, and then you’ll see the Quest appear in the browser.

Just remember that you need the Chromium browser. It can be Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera. Unfortunately, Firefox won’t let you play Meta Quest on PC.

How to Cast Quest 2 and Pro to Your TV

When you press the Cast button, it will give you the options available on the network. If you can’t see your TV, it probably doesn’t support it.

A great tip to solve this problem is to use Chromecast. Since it accepts almost any input connection, it’s the best way to seamlessly send Quest to your TV.

Chromecast is also recommended by Meta, ensuring you have full support.

You can get a Chromecast directly from Google or from Amazon US and Amazon UK.

iOS

Once you’ve sent your Quest to your iPhone or iPad through the app, swipe down on the bottom right of the screen to bring down the control tray. Here, select Screen Mirroring, or if you have a number of widgets on this part of the screen, the two boxes will overlap. Press and hold until a context menu appears to select the appropriate device.

Now, since you’re throwing out a highly compressed version of your Quest and then streaming it to another compressed stream, the quality may seem too high on lower-end networks. A USB-C or Lightning to HDMI adapter might be your best shot at this.

Android

On Android, you’ll need the Google Home app for this feature to work with your Chromecast. From here, touch and hold the tile you want the screen to be on. From here you can tap Cast and then Cast Screen.

Again, it doesn’t seem to be at its best due to the compression, but at least on Android phones, there’s no need for fancy adapters and you can use any USB-C dongle adapter.
