Amazfit’s new smart watches could be the main replacements for the Apple Watch

Amazfit is back with a pair of new affordable fitness smartwatches: the Amazfit Active and the Active Edge.

If you look at the first model, you’ll notice that it looks similar to the Apple Watch due to its 1.75-inch rectangular display. In fact, according to the company, it even offers performance comparable to the Apple Watch Series 9, since its AMOLED screen has a resolution of 390 x 450 pixels. It is important to make this distinction since AMOLED technology is more energy efficient than standard OLED displays. If we look at the specifications of the Amazfit Active, the wearable can last for 14 hours with “typical use.” But if you turn on battery saver mode, you could double your battery life to a maximum of 30 days.

If you prefer a flashier smartwatch, you should check out the other option. The Amazfit Active Edge sports a more robust and round design to withstand shocks. It even has a water resistance rating of 10 ATM (atmospheres), which means that if the specs hold up, you can go up to 100 meters underwater with this device on and it will still work. Comparatively, the Active model can only last up to 50 meters underwater. Note that the company recommends not showering with it on, as steam can loosen the airtight seal.

The Active Edge performs slightly worse. Its 1.32-inch screen has a maximum resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. The watch’s battery can last, according to Amazfit, up to 16 days. However, it apparently peaks at 24 days with battery saver mode on. So there are some trade-offs.
